my journey
My name is Julia Ward and I am a hair stylist in Eau Claire at Ivy and Sage Hair Co. I have been doing hair for 6 years and loving it more and more each day. As I was growing up, I was always doing everyone's hair. It started with Barbie dolls, and when I hit middle school I asked for a mannequin for Christmas. In 7th grade I started an Instagram page called, "Braids by Julia." Fast forward to 11th grade, I made the last minute decision to enroll in beauty school for the class immediately following my high school graduation. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew it felt right.
I have always been interested in the beauty community. Something about making people feel beautiful, inside and out. As I grew on my journey in this industry, I discovered that it is okay to have specialties, and you do not need to do anything you don't love. I discovered my love for blonding and extensions. I discovered how beautiful the wedding industry is. I discovered that the work I do is no longer work, it is my passion. Every day I wake up thankful to spend my days with the best clients, and create art that is tailored to each individually beautiful person.
life outside of work
I am blessed to have an amazing life outside of work. I am married to my long time best friend, Riley. Riley and I have a cute, cozy house of our own, with two furry roommates. Mabel is our puppy, and Teddy is our senior old man. Together, we all love to cuddle on the couch, or go for long walks outside.
I have a large family with a crazy dynamic. My parents had me, a surprise, at 40 years old. My sister had a baby 2 short years after I arrived, so we were raised together. I now have a built in best friend who also happens to be my sister-niece, or something like that. As the years passed my sister had a total of 4 kids and my brother a total of 3. Family holidays are a blast with my nieces and nephews ranging from adults in their 20's to toddlers in diapers.
My parents own a hobby farm with chickens, goats, and horses. All of our family gatherings are held at the little farm. We never get bored, that's for sure!
Outside of work, if I am not at home with the pups, you will definitely find me at the gym or at church. Health and fitness has been a priority of mine for a few years now. I believe in pushing myself to be the best version I can be, physically and mentally. At church, I have found another huge family. I help lead volunteer teams which takes up the rest of my time outside of work. I wouldn't have it any other way. It is truly a second home, in many ways. I also enjoy art, the outdoors, and new hobbies.
